The Council of Young Leaders in People's Democratic Party (CYLI-PDP) has tasked governments across board in Nigeria to prioritize sustaining the democratic legacy bequeathed to them by past leaders since 1999. In a statement released in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Monday morning, CYLI urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the dividends of democracy does not elude Nigerians.
"From the throes of military rule, Nigeria has transformed into a full fledged democracy that can only be sustained when the people get to participate and enjoy the gains of democracy. Only then can we say our democracy is no longer nascent." The statement read.
"The labour of our heroes past, who laid down their lives and bloods for us to have this government of the people, by the people and for the people, must not be allowed to go in vain. Nigeria must maximize its potentials and take its rightful place as the harbinger of hope and greatness for Africa."
