Of Akeredolu, Conscientious Ignorance and Hypocrisy - Wándé T. Àjàyí

By Wándé T. Ajayi

Of a truth, this government of Rotimi Akeredolu in this term, which seem a lonely affair, have desecrated the labours of our heroes past. All known legacies have been reversed to ground zero. From AAUA's tuition  skyrocketing to the neglect of the Mother and Child Hospital which is an outright attack on the sanctity of life. The wealth sharing efforts of previous administrations through the direct labour scheme has been subjected to an abrupt halt. To decaying infrastructures lying fallow in waste to the kick-off of cosmetic conduit pipes. What shall we call the slashing of OSOPADEC Bursary from #40,000 by half to #20,000?

I had refrained from putting up a long article on the activities of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his government of absurd. This decision is not unconnected to the fact that the administration has demonstrated it's willingness not to give a flying duck about public opinion on a number of occasions. Since February 26, 2017 that this administration kicked off, the head of the oligarchs, his appointees and malnourished party members have treated all discerning voices with much hatred and misplaced transfer of aggression. Questions have been mooted about the quality of minds around the henchman. The ones chosen to help think are taking advantage to gather the crumbs falling off the table. Obviously, they have not been able to keep their conscience at bay but the want to live beclouds their ability to say the truth.

Tell me what benefit is there to reap from the Ore flyover bridge that's alleged to have gulped a bogus #6.5b aside it's cosmetic benefits. Okitipupa Oil Palm Company will take over 5,000 jobless citizens off the street if that amount and a little more addition is invested into a public private partnership. The over-reliance on federal government rebates and the overtaxing of overburdened citizens would be reduced in a short term. The government have embarked on projects that can easily be said to be cosmetic surgery on the real infrastructural decay all over the state. Surface dressing roads and converting roads to a double lane is not and cannot be termed as infrastructural revolution when towns are cut off from others and farm products left to waste.

There is no denying the fact that management of information by the media aides of the Governor and Ondo State Government(ODSG) have been at an all time low with press releases oftentimes embedded with rhetorics and name calling with no or little treatment of issues. Most times you would think a rebuttal would have been effective but they either result to feign ignorance or come attacking calling names. This rot is not limited to their department, others are galloping around town looking for who to attack. Some say they believe head or tail, Buhari's "electoral reforms" will ensure a second term for their master. But have they forgotten about posterity?
