#Ondo2020: We Will Not Impose Any Candidate In Ondo - Secondus Assures Aspirants, As He Welcomes Ondo Dep Gov

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has assured aspirants contesting for the gubernatorial ticket of the party in Ondo State of a level playing field. Secondus spoke when he welcomed the decamping Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi to the party at the Alagbaka, Akure State Secretariat on Monday.

Agboola had resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress(APC) on Saturday, June 20 and thereafter picking the PDP membership card at his Kiribo Ward, Ese Odo LG yesterday.

Addressing the crowd at the event, he said "We will not impose any candidate. Our coming to receive the deputy governor is not an endorsement. We have started the wave of tsunami that will be hitting the APC from here. The PDP is a party that follows it's constitution to the latter. We are going to provide transparent, free and fair level playing field primary, so that everyone can see who will emerge and work with him." He said.

"There is no automatic ticket for anyone. We will provide a level playing field for all aspirants. The people that will be sent to conduct the primary will be incorruptible. We are not like the other party. We are democratic and Ondo people have gone through hell. It is time to rescue them and I know they are looking up to us. We must not disappoint them. Come October 10, the people of the State will be freed from the APC and will dance that PDP is back at the helm of the State." he added.

Assuring the defecting deputy governor of a guaranteed equal right, he told him "Our party doesn't discriminate. This party doesn't belong to anybody. You can vote and be voted for." he said

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose who was also at the event urged Ondo PDP to remain united as the party is poised for victory. "The party must choose right. Victory is already on the table. It is just left for us to pick it. The PDP is a very democratic party that will not allow imposition. Even as a sitting governor, the party still sent someone who told me he had an assignment to do. So, be rest assured that the primary will be free and fair." he said.

The deputy governor, Ajayi also used the medium to call for the removal of the Commissioner of Police, CP Salami. "My coming to the PDP has exposed the move by the APC to use security to intimidate us. The CP told me government vehicle is APC vehicle. He told me they gave him letter that I was decamping and I queried how that was his concern. He must go" he said.

The event was witnessed by NWC Members, aspirants of the party, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, Barr. Eyitayo Jegede, Otunba Akingboye, BOT Member Chief Segun Adegoke and numerous others.
